The Quarantine Backyard Ultra Race Has a Team Running in Stonebridge on July 11, 2020

The worldwide outbreaks of COVID-19 have forced cancellations of most organized races for runners. The Quarantine Backyard Ultra is a worldwide running event that has been launched in response to the COVID-19 quarantines.  50 countries are participating the Quarantine Backyard Ultra, where there is an option to use an indoor treadmill or a traditional outdoor route to take part in the event (depending upon local COVID protocols in the participating locations).

On July 11th, a local running group called K2J  (https://k2jfitness.com) will be running for 24 hours to participate in the event and incorporating a fund-raising element into the event to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa. Every hour on the hour, they will be attempting a 6.7km loop around Stonebridge (Kilbirnie/Greenbank). If you’re interested in seeing the action or giving some support, the virtual start/finish line will be on Kilmarnock Way. Start time is 9:00 a.m.  All are welcome to join the runners for a lap on foot or on bikes; all they ask is that you respect proper social distancing from the runners and practice social distancing yourselves and consider the use of a face mask and hand sanitizer.  Please be careful if you are driving around the neighbourhood on July 11th.
