From the Barrhaven Food Cupboard:

That sure looked and sounded like a terrific party you folks were having on Saturday! 

We, the Barrhaven Food Cupboard and the families who call on us for food assistance, thank you and the Stonebridge community for the donations you have made to the Food Cupboard through your Kids' Christmas Party.  I don't know whether or not you keep track but in my "eyeball" estimation, food and household items donations this year probably amounted to twice what you raised last year ... and that's going to help us tremendously because the number and frequency of requests for food assistance have increasedsignificantly over the last year or two.  Because of that, and the effect of the lingering economic slow-down on the "giving" side as well, our cupboard which, in past years, would be brimming with food stuffs at this time of year, are pretty bare.

The support that the Stonebridge Community Association and the Stonebridge Kids' Christmas Party has given us will allow us to better help the 700 or so people who will be asking us for food assistance over the next few months. Organizations such as the Barrhaven Food Cupboard are all about neighbours helping, and caring about, neighbours.  In this instance, it's not just neighbours helping but a whole neighbourhood! We are grateful for your support.  Would you please pass along our thanks to the kids and their families?
