The City has commenced the design of the bridge crossing with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2010 and targeted for completion in 2012. The extension of Strandherd was temporarily on hold as City Council determined the nature of the Strandherd – Earl Armstrong Bridge (i.e. LRT or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)). City Council carried forward BRT and design of the project has since recommenced with construction targeted to begin in 2010. Please feel free to contact Ms. Carolyn Newcombe, City of Ottawa’s Project Manager, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The environmental assessment plan being proposed for Prince of Wales Drive has already considered the impacts of the future Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge. A section of Prince of Wales Drive will be widened in advance in order to accommodate the future Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge. The widening of Prince of Wales Drive from Fairpark Drive to Woodroffe Avenue is scheduled to be built in 2010 as part of the Strandherd Drive extension to Prince of Wales Drive. This is being done to prepare the intersections approaching the future Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge.
